Caravan Trades Help Manual

Legal Standing
Your Legal Standing is the indication of your overall adherence to the trading laws of the Caravan Traders Association and the Persian Empire. If you are caught trading in illegal commodities, identified as making use of mercenary bandits, or have your own bandit caravans identified ransacking a rival company, your Legal Standing will change to reflect your status as one who flouts the law.

If you only trade in legal commodities and refrain from any bandit activities, your Legal Status will reflect your adherence to the law. The more you break or obey the law, the more extreme your Legal Standing will be in either direction.

If you have low Legal Standing, you can slowly recover your Law-Abiding status by not engaging in any illegal activities. It is a slow process to convince law enforcement that you have reformed, and you should expect at least a day of good behavior to recover even one level.

Legal Standing levels range from Law-Abiding down through Upstanding, Respectable, Rascal, Rogue, to the worst kind of scoundrel, Smuggler.

Repeat offenses traffiking in illegal commodities will result in higher and higher penalties. The worse your Legal Standing when you are caught, the higher the fines and other penalties you will be charged. If your Legal Standing drops to Smuggler and you are still again caught traffiking in illegal commodities or engaging in bandit activities, your headquarters will be raided by the Caravan Traders Association and your company dissolved.

While a more compliant Legal Standing will give you less problems with the CTA, doing business on the shifty side is known to be very profitable. It's up to you to decide the best way to conduct your business.

Your Legal Standing can be viewed on the Company Status page by clicking on Company Status on the left navigation menu.
